Hoboken, New Jersey
This 1,400-square-foot café-bakery embraces a modern, contemporary vocabulary—clean lines, warm textures, and the timeless clarity of classic subway tile. Clusters of decorative ball lights wash the space in a soft, golden glow, while black-and-white mosaic letter tiles anchor the entry as a crafted, street-level signature. Set within Hoboken’s historic urban fabric, the design stands out with fresh simplicity yet speaks fluently to its surroundings.
The mosaic lettering and white subway tiles nod to Hoboken’s history as a transportation hub—recalling the decorative tilework of the Hoboken Terminal and early PATH stations—quietly linking the café’s modern design to the city’s rich architectural past.
